From the architect. The renovation focuses mainly on the three main problems of the original building:

  1.        Appearance

The existing architectural form is relatively trivial and fragmented, many facade elements are concessional and outdated due to the improper handling on scale and materials, and the landscapes are far from enough and treated arbitrarily. The design clarifies and simplifies the building mass during partly expansion and straightening out of the original façade, in order to strengthen the volumetric appearance of the building; the facade materials are replaced so as to conform to characteristics of the times; the site relations are re-sorted, grass slope and corresponding landscape elements are added to improve the external environment.

  1.        Quality of the interior space

The existing architecture interior features inadequate public space, and poor ventilation and lighting, and the interior space lacks quality. First, the atrium is reconstructed into ‘landscape atrium’ and becomes the core landscape space of the whole building, and the roof is installed with openable skylights to improve the lighting and ventilation situations inside the building. Addtionally, the regions where are too deep for nature lighting are increased with shafts for lighting and ventilation to further enhance the quality of interior space. The wall, floor and ceiling of the indoor public areas are replaced and readjusted, making it suitable for modern and efficient image features of the office building.

  1.        Functions and circulations

During renovation, the spatial and circulation relationship among functions required for Yinzhou City Investment itself, the relationship between the circulations of self-use and lease, visitors, logistics and other circulations are sorted out and adjusted, and meanwhile increased with parking lots and facilities to solve the parking problems of the original building.
